Heaven

Heaven

One of the great blessings of heaven is that it is a place of rest (Hebrews 4:11).  Heaven is a place of rest from certain things.  Consider this rest very carefully.  (1) Rest from troubles.  Paul told the persecuted brethren at Thessalonica, “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels (II Thessalonians 1:7).  When Jesus comes and takes you to heaven there will be no more troubles.  (2) Rest from labor.  Revelation 14:13 states, “. . . Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.”  Are you worn out?  There is a place of rest.  Please make sure you die in the Lord.  (3) Rest from sickness and pain.  Listen to the great words of Revelation 21:4, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”  This verse alone should make everyone decide to go to heaven.  No more sickness, pain, or death.  What a wonderful place!  (4) Rest from evil.  Revelation 21:8 says, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”  We are further told in Revelation 21:27, “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”  It is very difficult not to be hurt and affected by this evil world.  Thank God for that “far better” place where evil does not exist.

Everyone needs and wants rest. The ultimate resting place is heaven. I ask us all to decide to go there together.
