A mother went into a store to buy two suits for her small sons, Charles and Arthur. “Won’t I look nice in Bible School Sunday?” Charles proudly asked. A friendly lady standing near spoke up, “Do you go to Bible School?” Arthur, who was only five, gave her a quick glance and asked, “Where else would I go on Sunday mornings?” Blushing, the lady replied, “That’s the best sermon I ever heard.”
The most precious gift we can give our children is not a trip to the beach, a new toy, or even a suit of clothes, but the opportunity to know God. Daniel, the Old Testament prophet, wrote “. . . but the people that do know their God shall be strong . . .” (Daniel 11:32). Perhaps you and I should consider the young five year old’s question, “Where else would I go on Sunday mornings?”
