When the angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought forth the Apostles he said, “Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life” (Acts 5:20). In verse 28 the high priest charged them with “filling Jerusalem with your doctrine.” He didn’t mean it as a compliment, but it was a great tribute to the work of the Apostles.
Nothing has changed! Our mission is to “speak all the words of this life” and to fill our world with the teaching of Christ. That’s exactly what Jesus meant when He said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Why every creature? Because every person has a soul and that soul will be eternally lost without the salvation of Jesus Christ. I’m afraid that sometimes we lose our focus and forget the urgency of the matter. We are around lost souls all the time – family, friends, etc. and never say a word. We need to be bold like the Apostles and show people that we love their souls.
