When Jesus prayed from the cross, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34), he exemplified the greatest attitude of love and forgiveness ever known to the human race. When man turns to Jesus he not only receives salvation (The greatest blessing), but also receives an attitude that will build special homes and make society a blessing to all human beings. Our homes and thus our society are in tragic ruin and sadly, it seems that no one is interested in Jesus, the only answer to our problems. Man is lost and trying to do everything his own way and the results are devastating. We need to remember that Jeremiah said, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). The prodigal son learned this the hard way and far too many today are determined to do the same.
We all must wake up! Jesus is the answer. Jesus is the only hope for the world. He gives the forgiveness of sins; a perfect standard by which to live; hope, peace and assurance; and yes, love. We need Him! We are looking in all the wrong places. His golden rule would change us all in a moment, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12). I would like to live in a society like that, wouldn’t you? It’s all there for the taking. But still most are uninterested, unconcerned and undone because of their humanistic attitude. We all have access to Jesus. I want to ask you to pick up your Bible and start reading.
