A Thanksgiving Prayer

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear God we thank thee for this good day

For every blessing that has come our way

For the rising sun, for the heavens above

For the precious gift of a Saviour’s love.

We thank thee Lord for the apostle Paul,

For Jesus the Christ who died for all.

For the life he lived, for the lessons he taught,

For the blood he shed upon Calvary’s cross.

Lord we thank thee for the food we eat,

For the clothes we wear, for peaceful sleep.

For skies of blue, for oceans deep,

For lush green meadows, for mountain peaks.

We thank the Lord for this good land,

For friends and neighbors, for helping hands.

For flowers that bloom, for birds that sing,

For babbling brooks, for everything!

We thank thee Lord every day

That we were born in the U.S.A.

Remind us Lord and help us to see

That all good things come from Thee.

Father we thank thee for thy matchless grace

Bestowed so freely upon the race

That all might know thine only Son

Who died on the cross for everyone.

We thank thee Lord that we can stand

And hold to thy unchanging hand.

May we always keep thy holy commands

So that we may enter the promised land.

Lord we thank thee for that wonderful friend

Who purchased for us the pardon of sins.

In his holy name we humbly pray

That every day will be Thanksgiving Day.
