Adding to God’s Word

Adding to God’s Word

Religious people seem to think so very little about adding to God’s word.  Yet almost as “Sentries” standing near the first of the Bible, in the middle of the Bible and at the close of the Bible God warns – “do not add to the word.”

“You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you” (Deuteronomy 4:2).

“Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you, and you be found a liar” (Proverbs 30:6).

“If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Revelation 22:18,19).

Hundreds of churches exist today because people have committed the sin of adding to God’s word.

TO THE DOCTRINE OF SALVATION BY FAITH MAN HAS ADDED – FAITH ONLY.  The Bible everywhere teaches salvation by faith but nowhere teaches salvation by faith only (Romans 5:1).

TO NEW TESTAMENT WORSHIP BY SINGING MAN HAS ADDED ALL KINDS OF INSTRUMENTS.  Christians SING!  The melody is to be made in the HEART (Ephesians 5:19).  It is a sin to add the instrument.

TO BIBLE BAPTISM MAN HAS ADDED SPRINKLING AND POURING.  God said “buried in baptism.”  Why isn’t what God said good enough?

The only way to be right with God is to obey His word.  Adding to that word is sinful and produces religious confusion (Exactly what we have today).  Let’s get back to the Bible.
